How to Become a Green Built Texas Verifier
The Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas (HBA) is seeking interested, qualified individuals to become Green Built Texas (GBT) Verifiers. Since the HBA is not a certifying entity, it is up to the GBT Verifier, working in conjunction with their GBT builder client to determine whether the home is eligible for listing on the program’s Home Registry.
This process is designed to provide independent third party verification. As such, the homebuilder, a division of the homebuilder, or an operating entity that is majority owned by the homebuilder is prohibited from being a GBT Verifier.
Eligibility Prerequisites:
*In addition to the criteria below, Verifiers must be members in good standing with the HBA of Greater Dallas or another HBA in the State of Texas.
- RESNET Certified Home Energy Raters (more info)

These agreements and addendums define specific home registration fees, number of meetings with the builder, number of inspections of any home to be registered, and any expected performance tests and documentation required of homes under construction.
- Payment of registration fees ($30 per home) to the HBA and providing data about the home for listing on the GBT Home Registry along with other documentation that must be provided under the Verifier Agreement.
- Obtaining signatures or appropriate documentation that proves compliance with provision of the GBT Construction Protocol that are not feasible for the Verifier to inspect or that the Verifier is not qualified to inspect.
- Determining, based on their own inspections and the documentation provided by other appropriate entities, that the home complies with the GBT Construction Protocol and is therefore eligible for listing on the registry.
- Advising the builder on how to correct aspects of the home that the Verifier believes are not in compliance with the GBT Construction Protocol.
